What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a branch of the healing arts concerned with the maintenance of human health and prevention of disease. Today, as more people discover chiropractic, it has become the number-one alternative therapy and solution for aches, pain and overall wellness.
Doctors of Chiropractic, often referred to as chiropractors or chiropractic physicians, are fully licensed primary care physicians who specialize in disorders of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, and the effects these disorders are having on general health.
Chiropractic doctors practice a “holistic” approach, focusing on the relationship of the body’s nerves, muscles, bones and organs, which complements the body’s natural ability to heal itself. This natural therapeutic approach is what makes chiropractic medicine so distinctive.
Chiropractors treat and correct joint dysfunction through the manipulation of the spine and other joints. Spinal manipulation, often referred to as “chiropractic manipulation” or the “chiropractic adjustment,” are utilized to restore normal motion and mobility to the spine and its joints that may have become restricted. Chiropractic manipulation alleviates pain while decreasing inflammation and muscle tightness.
